да.да.да именно в роттердаме (=... и скорее всего наша мастерская также будет там представленна, ну по крайней мере барт согласился курировать нашу группу (=... так что все возможно, но к сожалению сама я туда не попадаю, увы, но во всем как всегда виноваты деньги, которые я не смогу заработать )=...кстати, если не ошибаюсь биеннале будет посвещено "массовому строительству" ну по крайней мере с нашей стороны /если ничего не изменится/, а именно хотим предоставить N_ое кол-во кварталов, как готовый продукт /своего рода утопия, но на то и делаем акцент/.

"4th International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam (IABR) – Open City: Designing Coexistence
How can architects and urbanists stimulate social, cultural, and economic coexistence? Open City: Designing Coexistence, the 4th International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam, is exploring, documenting, and designing strategies for coexistence in today's cities.

Seven themes
The curators have selected six international teams of experts to work on six situations in which geographical, spatial, typological and socio-cultural conditions reveal the most pertinent qualities and potentials of Open City. The results of their work will be exhibited and discussed extensively during the 4th IABR in the NAI, which will be the central location of the 4th IABR.

1. Community (USA): Interboro, New York.
2. Collective (Russia): Bart Goldhoorn, Alexander Sverdlov with Anna Bronovitskaya / Project Russia.
3. Refuge (Istanbul, Beirut, Amman, Cairo, Dubai): Philipp Misselwitz and Can Altay, Istanbul.
4. Squat (Addis Ababa, Sao Paolo, Rio de Janeiro): Jörg Stollmann and Rainer Hehl Berlin/Zurich
5. Reciprocity (Jakarta): Stephen Cairns and Daliana Suryawinata, Edinburg/Rotterdam
6.The Maakbare Samenleving/The Make-able Society (Rotterdam): Crimson Architectural Historians, Rotterdam.
7. The Free State of Amsterdam: Zef Hemel (DRO Amsterdam)


Other events
Besides the main exhibition in the Netherlands Architecture Institute, programs are being developed in other venues in Rotterdam and in Amsterdam, and with VPRO, the Dutch national broadcaster. Parallel Cases // IABR@RDM is a collaboration with the Academy for Architecture and Urban Design Rotterdam and the IHS/Erasmus University, and will show designs and research projects related to the themes Squat, Community, Refuge, Collective and Reciprocity, from international schools and universities.


Kees Christiaanse, curator
Kees Christiaanse (1953) is known as one of today's most significant practicing architects and urban designers. He was a partner at OMA Rotterdam and founded KCAP Architects & Planners in 1989, with offices in Rotterdam and Zurich. Since 2003 he has been head of the Institute for Urban Design at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich and a visiting professor at the London School of Economics. He is actively involved in concrete urban projects, such as the development of docklands in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and Hamburg, and is designing an "urban breeding ground" in London for the Olympic Legacy Masterplan. He is conceiving the program of this biennale with co-curator Tim Rieniets and his team in Zurich, the sub-curators mentioned above, and the IABR staff in Rotterdam directed by George Brugmans."

"Collective

The condition of the Open City can be considered a balance between two extremes: the Collective city — centrally planned on the basis of the public interest — and its counterpart, which we will call the Individual City,— based on minimizing public space and giving maximum freedom to private initiatives. The Individual City can be found in capitalist societies such as the United States, the Collective City in Post-war housing estates in Western Europe and (former) communist countries. Clearly, the Individual City with its suburban sprawl and gated communities is not an Open City. In the case of the Collective City, where there is no private space,  the answer is less obvious: the city is as open as it could be. However, Europe’s experience with its Post War housing estates has shown the problematic side of this openness. The definition of an Open City can thus be found not only in the rejection of the gated community, but also in the way it solves the inadequacies of the Collective City.

Russia is the place where the Collective City was realized in its most extreme form. Contrary to Western Europe, in Russia the Collective City is still being constructed. It is therefore the ideal laboratory in which to test the principles of the Open City, not only by reconstructing its vast housing districts, but also by exploring the potential to design contemporary Collective Cities where the principles of the Open City can be applied in dense, cheap, large, mass-produced urban structures.

The “Collective” portion of the Biennale exhibition will consist of three parts, organized around Microrayon, the basic housing element in Russia’s collective cities: In “The World of the Microrayon,” the historic and geographical scope of this phenomenon will be presented – from its appearance in the 1950s in the Soviet Union as the ideal fulfilment of communist ambitions to the present when the Microrayon is still the dominant form of housing in many (post)communist countries. The second part, will show the demise of the Microrayon in the 1980s and 90s as a result of the changing socio-economic conditions (“Microrayon Check-up”) and the possibilities to adapt it to the new circumstances (“Microrayon Update”). The final part of the exhibition, “Microrayon 2.0,” will examine the potential of the Microrayon to provide cheap and sustainable housing in the future. At times of a collapsing real estate market, this might be an alternative for Holland’s Vinex-wijk."

научный интерес, действительно
если серьёзнее, я там уже бывал, архивы копал. теперь думаю покататься по окрестностям тех архивов: черняховск, гусев, советск... там, кстати (в калининграде) во времена докризисные тоже хотели биеннале отчебучить - им до сих пор неясно, что делать с центром разбитого города.
